1. Martin Nebel, Philidelphia, 1970. 16 3/4". Well flamed two piece maple back, with matching ribs and scroll. Attractive red-brown varnish. Professional quality viola from this prominent American family of violin makers. $12,000.00

2. W. C. Twist, Tulsa Ok., ca. 1926. 16 1/8". Interesting amateur made instrument. One piece slab cut back, deep ribs. Very rich tone. $1300.00

3. Czechoslovakia, 20th century. 17 5/8" viola with huge sound. Well suited for the larger player. $1500.00

4. Scott Cao, China, 1995. 15 1/4". Well made Asian viola. Large tone in a smaller instrument. Retail $1375.00, SALE: $1150.00.

5. Labled "Made expressly for Dan Lawrence String Instruments, Kansas City, MO 1997". 15 3/4". This is one of the better Chinese instruments made today. Beautifully constructed using well flamed maple with a broad curl for the back, ribs and neck and very evenly fine grained spruce top. Boxwood fittings finish off the very clean craftsmanship. Exceptional sound and a very playable size. $1750.00.
