About Dan Lawrence String Instruments
I am pleased to report that my son Jesse is now working full time in the shop. He has a keen eye for quality, able hands for repair and as an accomplished violinist, a trained ear for sound. This collaboration ensures that we will be able to serve your string instrument needs for many years to come.
Striving to provide the best value in a product has led me to offer primarily older reconditioned instruments of German, French and Italian origin. These instruments currently range from about $500 to $15,000. Occasionally I find new instruments that I feel offer extraordinary tone for the price, especially in the newer Asian instruments, and I am pleased to recommend these to my clients. These violins are in the $400-3000 range. See #13 Andreas Eastman on the violin page. Fractional sizes for the younger student are also available in a variety of qualities. Call for details.
I have recently had the opportunity to offer a line of contemporary Italian instruments, primarily from Cremona. These are made entirely by hand by modern masters as well as young makers still establishing their reputations. Many of these makers are affiliated with the International School of Violinmaking.

Blog with Dan
We're pleased to announce the launch of Dan Lawrence Violins blog. In addition to periodic comments, I will be documenting the construction of "Kathryn's Viola", a copy of the 1585 Gaspar da Salo. Also check out the Dan Lawrence String Instruments Forum, a meeting place for the string community to discuss a variety of violin related topics. |
